Connotea Social Bookmarking

I have just updated my Connotea social bookmarking sites with community and business resources.

Saving references in Connotea is quick and easy. You do it by saving a link to a web page for the reference, whether that be the PubMed entry, the publisher's PDF, or even an Amazon product page for a book. Connotea will, wherever possible, recognize the reference and automatically add in the bibliographic information for you.

In Connotea you assign keywords (or 'tags') to your references. These can be anything you like, and you can use as many as you like, so there's no more need to navigate complicated hierarchies of folders and categories. Connotea shows you all the tags you've ever used, so it's easy to get back to a reference once you've saved it.

The 2009 TELUS World Ski and Snowboard Festival Whistler is on April 17 to 26.



For 10 days and 10 nights the biggest annual celebration of winter sports, music, arts and culture lands in Whistler.

The Festival features sport competitions, FREE daily outdoor concerts, all-night after parties with internationally acclaimed DJs, fashion shows, photography and art exhibits, film screenings, theatre and of course the best skiing and riding in the world.

2009 Whistler Tennis Camps

The Whistler Racquet Club has posted their 2009 Adult Tennis Camp and Junior Tennis Camp dates and rates online.

Marjorie Blackwood and Peter Schelling run the tennis camps which are rated among the top in North America. Kirk Paterson directs the high energy popular Youth Tennis Sport Camps.

If you want to improve your tennis game I highly recommend the Whistler Racquet Club.

Visual CV - An Interesting Concept

I just came across Visual CV... which bills itself as a "Better Resume Online".

It took about 10 minutes to set up my very basic online CV - Roy McClean's Visual CV. Unlike LinkedIn it appears that you need to join the site and log in to see any profile. With LinkedIn you can see a partial profile, at least, without having to log in.

I'll monitor if this works as a networking tool for Custom Fit Online, my Internet marketing and web design company.

Whistler Hotels - Residence Inn by Marriott

We just launched an updated version of Whistler's Residence Inn by Marriott website.

The hotel website follows the design of the previous site but is now built using Umbraco, our content management system of choice. The site has an integrated blog utilizing RSS technology.

We're also using social media, blog development and online content development to promote and improve search engine visibility for this site.

Results have been very positive with the website showing a significant increase in traffic and conversions since we started our work.
